This year we had some of the best weather ever in Cornwall. The day of our arrival was warm and sunny, so we were on the beach by 11, the first of five days on the beach. Some days were overcast and looked like rain, but although we had our raincoats in the rucksack, we never actually put them on all holiday.

We continued our walk round the Cornish Coast Path, starting where we left off last year at Port Isaac. This part of the coast is very hilly, with many deep coombs cut into the high cliffs. Jacket's Point and Trebarwith Strand were particularly steep and strenuous paths with many steep and unevenly spaced steps up the cliffs. We managed 15.5 miles along the coast this year from Port Isaac to Beeny Cliff, a mile or so past Boscastle.

Boscastle has recovered well from the floods of seven years ago, with properties rebuilt, and with the River Valency running down to the harbour considerably widened.
